These corrective actions come from a June 2023 settlement in a lawsuit filed against the County of Santa Clara in the Santa Clara Superior Court (Case No. 19CV357560).

If you are in this group of patients, you should receive a letter from the County of Santa Clara starting the week of August 14, 2023, or in the following weeks. As soon as you receive the letter, it is important to act quickly to apply for a re-evaluation of your bill.

  • Check the date of the letter from the County of Santa Clara Health System about your bill.
  • Complete an application within 65 days from the date of the mailing of the letter.
    • The application is attached to your letter or
    • Use this link for an online version from the County

    • Email to: FinancialAssistance@hhs.sccgov.org
  • Turn in verification documents (income, identity, and where you lived) within 150 days after the application deadline.
  • Receive a decision and possible refund from the County in 6 months or sooner.
