California committees eye who’s next for scarce vaccines.

Two groups that will be making recommendations on the distribution of California’s second round of COVID-19 vaccines early next year, have started meeting this week.  The first is a 16-member Drafting Guidelines Workgroup made up of health professionals. The Workgroup will make recommendations which will then be vetted by the 60-member Community Vaccine Advisory Committee, led by California Surgeon General Dr. Nadine Burke Harris.

“In picking which groups go first, a majority supported prioritizing the societal impact of the job; equity — making sure low-income workers and those working in vulnerable communities are included; the jobs’ impact on the economy; and the risk of each occupations’ exposure to the coronavirus, including workers’ risk of death and risk of spreading the virus in the community.”
