Why Communities of Color Struggle to Get Mental Health Care: New Study Insights
A variety of factors create social and structural barriers for women and Black and Latinx communities in accessing mental health care. A study by Santa Monica-based Rand Corp., shows a connection between untreated mental health problems and multiple absences from work, which can take an economic toll on individuals and families in the form of lost pay and even lost jobs. That dynamic disproportionately affects communities of color.
