Getting men's health services

Men can get most of their health care needs met if they have regular Medi-Cal. There are also special men’s programs for prostate and breast cancer treatment.

For more information on Medi-Cal see help for children or help for adults.

According to the Department of Health Services, prostate cancer is the most common cancer among all men in almost all racial and ethnic groups in California. The “Improving Access, Counseling and Treatment for Californians with Prostate Cancer” (IMPACT) provides free prostate cancer treatment to low-income, uninsured California men. Call 1-800-409-8252 (Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM) or visit the Cancer Detection Section of the California Department of Health Services website to see if you qualify for free prostate cancer treatment.

Men also can get breast cancer. The Medi-Cal Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program may be able to help you. Read our consumer brochure on the Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program to find out.
